The Montreal Fantasia Film Festival website finally went up! From just a quick look, I already have about 15 movies I want to see. It is going to be a crazy three weeks! Expect to see reviews of the movies once I’ve seen them.

Here’s a typical day at work, except we had some supermag magnets and we decided to have a little fun!

So today was finally the day. Steve’s finally received my PRS CE-22 Blue Matteo that they had had shipped down from Ottawa. I got there just as they were unloading the truck. They bring in a big box that the sales guy opens in front of me. He sets the guitar case on the counter and opens it in front of me. The guitar looked fantastic…until I noticed a nice big ding right on the front that went into the maple binding around the body.
So disappointed, I walked back to the back of the store look at what else they have to offer. I thought they had in stock a Custom 22 in blue matteo, which turned out to be a custom 24 20th anniversary. The guy offered to let me have it for a bit less seeing as he was quite pissed about them sending me a damaged guitar telling us it was mint.
Well I’m quite happy, after wanting a PRS for about 14 years now…I finally have one…and it’s not even a base model like I was planning on getting it.

I’ve seen this on a bunch of various sites now, so I normally would not link it, but it is just way too funny.

“Surf’s Up” is the latest 3d animated flick to hit theaters since Shrek 3. It is awesome. It is fraking awesome. This movie has some of the slickest visuals ever in a 3d movie and some scenes look absolutely real. The amount of visual eye candy this film feeds you is simply breathtaking! The entire movie is filmed as a surfing documentary, and the team behind this definitely did their homework. It feels like a documentary, and you quickly forget that you are looking at some 3d models. The attention to detail is great! When Cody (the main penguin) swims out to see on his surfboard, there is a camera on the tip of the board, and it even shows small static as if it was really a camera on a surfboard. It is kind of hard to explain, but you simply have to see it.
The voice actors do an excellent job, and the choice of music is excellent. Lots of great surfing music like Incubus, Green Day, and 311 fill out the soundtrack and add to the whole surfing documentary feel. This movie is excellent to go see with kids, and I know both adults and children will enjoy it. There are some visual slapstick jokes which will keep the kids laughing, but there are also areas which will have the parents laughing as well. If the parents aren’t laughing, they are gawking at how beautiful the water and effects are. The entire movie is very well rounded out.
There is no way that you will leave this movie without having the urge to go surfing… it is simply that good. If I lived any where down south near the water, I would have headed out from the theaters, directly to the beach. Go see this movie now. I highly recommend it.

I love the circus. I find it fascinating and a joy to go see. In Montreal, we are lucky to be home to the Cirque du Soleil. I had been avoiding their newest spectacle, Kooza, since I had nobody to go see it with. Last week, after two people telling me how amazing it was, I decided I had to go. So I scoured their website for tickets, and managed to find a single seat. I would be going alone, but I didn’t mind. All I can say after seeing the show is thank you Eric & Ruth for telling me how great it was. Kooza was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It is truly spectacular. If it comes to your town, go see it!
This was my first Cirque du Soleil experience, but many others have told me that Kooza was different in the sense that it was less of a “show” and more of a circus. All I can say is that it was an amazing circus show. It did have a story, but it was mostly act after act with the story in between. There was a bit of everything: contortionists, trapeze, unicycling, juggling, high wire, human pyramids and teetherboard, a zen performance of a chair balancing routine, and best of all, the Wheel of Death. Every performance ignited the audience and made you happy. Some acts, like the Wheel of Death and the high wire would keep you at the edge of your seat hoping they would not fall. Others, such as the juggling routine and the unicycle duo were amazing in their own right. The unicyclist was “dancing” to various songs with his unicycle, and he would always pick up his partner and hold her above him… while unicycling! He also mounted his unicycle in an impressive way, which I do not know the name of. Essentially, it was on the ground, on the side, and he just ran towards it, kicked up the seat and sat on it. Looked really cool. The juggler was also equally very good. There were no knives or fire, but he juggled quite a bit, often while ballancing something on his head. See the videos after the break to see the juggler’s routine. The whole show also has a live band and singers which really added to it all. The Indian singer in particular was really good.
I could go on and on about this show. It brought me back to my youth when I would imagine what the circus would be like. I highly reccomend Kooza. Go see it!!
You’ll find some videos after the break.

I’ve been meaning to buy myself some really strong gel, so I went to the store and bought a couple of different tubes of gel. I was testing the gel and I gave myself some sort of crappy tri-hawk. (think fake mohawk x 3) Ever since seeing the clip for Prodigy’s “Breathe”, I’ve been etching to get myself hair like him (double mohawk). Of course, I never had the guts to shave the rest of my hair and dye each side a different colour, but I secretly wanted to do it. Now that I work, it will probably never happen. Anyways, I took a picture of myself, and even though you can’t see the fake trihawk, I like how this alteration turned out.

UPDATE: The guitar has been sold. Thanks.
Well I’ve loved this guitar for a few years, but it’s time to part.
For sale is a perfect mint condition Jackson RR1 lightning sky.
The guitar has 22frets, a JB seymour duncan in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. The bridge is an original floyd Rose. It is a neck through construction and features real mother of pearl inlays on the ebony fret board and on the head stock (Jackson logo). The best feature of this guitar is the stunning hand made paint job. The lightning bolts are done with pearlescent paint and will really shine under the right light.
I am asking 2000$ for it or trade for a PRS CE 22 with Trem. The Jackson RR1 currently retails for about 2900$ in stores (with custom paint job) and ordering one brand new will take over 6 months to get delivered. Do yourself a favor and save a 6 month wait and 1000$.
Send me an email if interested (nocturnaldecay@gmail.com).
See images after break.

I found this on Joystiq, and I believe it is an entry to the Nintendo Short Cuts contest. I found it pretty funny, so for those who haven’t seen it, it is posted below.
