I went to see Daft Punk in concert this week.

Three words: What a show!

It was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and that’s a lot considering the two guys just stand and DJ the whole thing. They didn’t just play their songs, they dj’ed and mixed all their songs with an accompanying light show. They had a screen in the back, a grid in front and a pyramid which they were situated on top. It is a bit hard to describe, but it was really impressive. They also do their show in their robot suits, in which I have no clue how they can see through their helmets.

The light effects at first were nothing special, but gradually they would up the ante, with the best effect at the encore. Halfway through the encore, the music dies and a red beam of light gradually comes down the set and then climbs the pyramid to light up the two band members! Their suits and helmets would have glowing lines (think Tron). When they were finally done, they turned around and all the lights went out except the Daft Punk logos on their suits. It was friggan awesome!!!!

If you are a fan of Daft Punk, do yourself a favour and seek out this show. You’ll dance nonstop and be in pure ecstasy (without the drug.. don’t do drugs kids!) throughout the entire show. I’m not a very good dancer, but when the beat is flowing through your veins, you can’t do anything but dance. I actually wished they would have gone on, or hell, started from the beginning again. I could have stayed there several more hours… it was that good.
